Born in Co. Cavan and now living in Co. Monaghan, Irish artist and poet Roisin Duffy uses her paintings and accompanying poetry to portray her unique view of the world. Working in acrylic on canvas, colour and balance are the most important aspects of her paintings. Her subject matter is the ordinary and the mundane things which are common to us all – home, family, personal relationships, and the connections people have to one another, be it friends, family or total strangers.

Roisin’s acrylic paintings are bold and colourful, with contrast and balance being the most important aspect of her work. Every painting tells a story, her strength is the ability to effectively portray some of the most complex human situations through simple, rounded shapes. She also writes an accompanying poem for every painting, providing an extra, emotional under-layer to each piece.
